 The aim of this course is to help delegates to develop their knowledge of how to produce internal audit reports that are effective in delivering results.

 

The course covers the objectives, structure, layout, and style and presentation of audit reports including the requirement to “add value” by effecting change. Effective reporting and presentational techniques are discussed to improve upon the desired impact of audit reporting. One day course.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the session students should be:

  • Clear about the purpose of a report and the needs of the audience
  • Able to identify the key characteristics of an effective report
  • Understand report format and the purpose of different sections
  • Familiar with report conventions including numbering, headings and appendices
  • Know how to present written and visual information to improve readability and comprehension

Delegates are asked to look for an example of a “good” and “bad” report, prior to coming on the course. This doesn’t necessarily have to be from operational work, but may be from an internet search. The course will ask delegates to discuss in groups why and how they determined their selection.
