COURSE CONTENT

This module provides candidates with the competencies and skills required of strategic decision makers and leaders. It introduces the challenges of contemporary management and how to engage with frameworks, theories, and tools.

Although the focus is on formulating strategy, this is approached from the view of the CAE and considers the role of the internal audit function to:

  • Participate and contribute to the strategy formulating
  • Act as advisor and providing assurance of the strategic risks
  • Review the strategic processes

This module consists of five domains:

  • Leadership principles
  • Organisational strategy
  • Organisational culture
  • Commercial acuity
  • CSR and sustainability

Professional Conferral

The Professional Conferral gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your learning. You will reflect on your learning and how you applied this to your work environment and demonstrate your ability to act as a leader. Assessors will want to see how you developed and grew, and it is, therefore, particularly important that you reference any areas that didn’t work out as you hoped.

The Professional Conferral has two elements: a presentation followed by a Q&A session. It replaces the Professional Experience Journal and offers candidates the opportunity to better engage with those areas that reflect their own development and learning rather than responding to a list of competencies.

For those candidates transitioning from the Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership (QIAL), we will continue to accept the PEJ until 1 December 2022. After this date, all candidates will be expected to complete the Professional Conferral.

Direct Entry route

For qualified accountants currently working in internal audit and aspiring to be CAEs, or internal auditors with advanced business degrees, we offer a direct entry route to our Chartered by Learning programme.

The direct entry route allows you to enrol on the Chartered by Learning programme as an aspiring CAE moving into senior management.
